AIRCOOLER Vs AC, DO NOT BE DECEIVED!

Often than usual, most people struggle in deciding what to buy when it comes to devices that will manage good aeration and house cooling. The issue of whether to buy a Standing fan, air cooler or AC(Air Conditioner) becomes mind bugling. Most factors must be considered when finalizing your decision with regards to this.

1. STANDING FANS

With aeration and cooling, standing fans are the most comfortable option for starters and start ups. Standing fans are mostly less expensive and suitable for small spaces when the total number of occupants is less.

There are several brands out there with several features. The latest designs are rechargeable, can be folded etc. Standing fans cannot withstand exposure to excessive use and pressure.

2. CEILING FANS

For a more 360 degrees rotational aeration, the best choice is a ceiling fan. They come with different features ( blade length, number of blades, controlling mechanisms etc.) at different prices. Go for a ceiling fan if you intend to aerate a fairly large space that will be occupied by a fair number of people. Ceiling fans are not portable and cannot be moved around, they can also squeak and squeal over time. Though they can withstand a lot pressure and work for longer period of time than standing fans, their biggest low down is their immobility and noise.

Yet, consider them over ceiling fans if the room or building has a high roof with a fair space for more than 2 occupants.

3. AIR COOLER

A recent aeration and cooling system that joined the family. Air coolers are a mystery to a lot people owing to the fact that it is an emerging technology. Sadly, some people buy them without making enquiries and end up disappointed! Air Coolers can be categorized as a product that lies between a normal fan (Standing or Ceiling) and an Air Conditioner. Air coolers are made up bladeless fans, they produce a direct line of airflow similar to standing fans. Though they rotate mostly between 50 to 120 degrees, the airflow will need to directed through the vents. Setting the direction of airflow of an air cooler can be tricky at times because the distant from the device to the user must also be considered.

Air cooler have a few advantages over traditional standing and ceiling fans though;

a) They filter the air they blow and limits the amount of dust and pollutants ( It is just designed to intake the air that is already in the room, filter it and blow it out.

b) They can work with water or iced blocks since they contain water pumps. When filled with water or ice, the water is pumped and circulated within the system. The water in the process of circulating is absorbed through the filters at the back and blown out in tiny droplets mixed with the water. This produces some form of chilled air.

c) They have water dripping sound effect that can put one to sleep. Not all, but some have this feature that produces a "rainfall dripping sound" effect when you are using the cooling function that comes with it.

d) They can be of good use to immobile aged people or people who sit in a fixed location or position for most times of the day.

e) Since water can be added for cooling purposes, it serves also as a humidifier, you can add some essential oil to the water to make your space aromatic.

HOWEVER... KINDLY NOTE;

a) The distant of aeration of an air cooler is poor. The air does not really go that far from the device. Meaning you have to sit not too far from the device.

b) Air coolers produce direct line of air flow. Though they rotate, you have the carefully adjust the vent blades to get the air in your direction. This means, once you change your sitting position to a lower or higher height, you will have to readjust the air vent blades!

c) Setting the direction of the air vents can be tricky and upsetting at times. Once you change your sitting position, you need to change its position too.

d) Not suitable for larger rooms or spaces with several occupants, its rather good for individual or at least 3 persons use since the distant of  airflow is short.

e) Unlike standing fans their parts cannot be easily replaced when damaged since they are fairly new on the market

f) Due to their limited directional airflow, nothing can be positioned between an air cooler and a user otherwise the airflow will be completely blocked.

With the considerations and conditions above, you will have to decide carefully if you need an air cooler or not. If you are a single occupant of your space, or want to use an air cooler as a secondary cooling device, then it's the right decision. If not reconsider your options.

4. AIR CONDITIONING

The "ace of the cards", its the best option if you are looking for an optimum cooling device. Equipped with air filters and excellent cooling mechanisms, they are the best products for cooling and aeration.

Whereas a standing and ceiling fan can control the air flow in a room, AC's can do same for multiple and larger rooms and spaces. Though the caveat includes installation complexities and cost, costive energy bills, AC's must also be setup in well constructed rooms with airproof windows and doors.

There are different types of AC's, the recent design is the portable model which appears smaller than the usual in size.

AC still stands as the superior aeration and cooling device and option so far. Do not tricked! Air Coolers ARE NOT Air Conditioners. Make your choices carefully before buying any especially if you are in a hot weather location like Africa.
